Just Livin' The Dream

Yes, we are still alive and kickin! No, we do not have as much free time as we once did for important things like blogging, exercising (that is always the first thing to go), twitter (gotta keep our peeps informed), facebook, cooking or more important things like showering and shaving (nobody is perfect). It has been a very hectic and crazy past three weeks. Between moving, me starting my first year as a teacher, Clint starting school again, plumbing issues at our new place we have been just loving each other and looking forward to having some time together (which is mostly on the weekends). It has been an adventure though, a new step in our life.

I love, love, love teaching! I have the best class ever, and my students are just all so fun and adorable. It has been an adventure teaching but I feel so comfortable with it, it just comes so naturally and part of that is because I have very reliable paraprofessionals! I swear they can read my mind because every time I ask for something its already been done. They are great. I am lucky to have them!

Clint's first week has gone well, and lets hope it stays that way. He is taking 18 credits this semester because with his sugar mama he doesn't have to work. He has been great at moving us out and in and cleaning our old place, they land lady told me he did a "fabulous job" and that I "am a lucky girl to have him." We had a great labor day weekend together, boating, being with family and just getting away from our still not unpacked house. Unpacking has always been my weakness. Anyway, just wanted to let you know things are still going on and I haven't forgotten about our adorable blog just put it on the back burner with everything else I have going on. Thanks for all the support we have received from family in painting, moving, cleaning and putting my classroom together, you are amazing! We love you!

New apartment!

So, Clint and I were on a trip to find a new apartment and found this gem...cheap rent, bigger than where we are now, close to the freeway entrance, and it looks like a cellar from the outside....other perk we were able to paint it! So here are the before and after pictures! Something we both learned painting takes a lot more time than we thought but is so worth it!

Summer Time has been Busy

This summer has been very different from last summer. Last summer Clint and I were livin' the dream. Living part time at my parents house and playing with them all summer long, family reunions, traveling to California and Chicago and the best part was we were not working or in school. It was pretty incredible. This summer has been just as incredible but very different. Clint has a full time internship up in North Salt Lake (the commute alone takes over two hours all together) and I have been teaching at a summer school (part of my schooling) and taking a class (both of which take all day of my life). Even though our days have been busier we still make time for each other and find time to have fun with family and friends. We have just had a really strong and good taste of what it is like to become an adult. Lucky for me yesterday was the last day of summer school! As fun as it was I am so excited to have more time to get my classroom ready starting in August and more time to make dinner and just have more fun:) Either way on the busy days when we are both exhausted beyond reason we will always have last summer!

An Affair to Remember...

Here I am late at night trying to write a paper for my Law class this semester (which is practically killing me...between practicum and all the work I do for that I am so exhausted that this paper has been put on the back burner for a while). Anyway, I go to Netflix of course to find a movie that won't distract me while I write but also keep me company while my husband sleeps beside me and I found this Classic Gem...

I forgot how much I love this movie. Such a simple love story but so classy all at the same time. And I am at the part when Deborah Kerr says the famous line "Winter must be cold for those with no warm memories. We already missed the spring." That line gets me every time, I am so grateful for my husband who sleeps on the couch next to me while I stay up writing a paper, and parents who will spend hours fixing a special momento for us (and cleaning our car on the 4th of July), and siblings who I have many adventurous memories with, and in-laws who have made me feel very comfortable in their wonderful family, and lets not forget all of my extended family who have provided me with lots of entertainment over the years. Maybe I am sentimental right now with Harry Potter really being over

Sooo...remember when I said I started cooking again, well I did but it did not last long. But here are a few of the meals that I discovered and tested out and they all ended up with great reviews from my husband and his cousin Preston!! The photos are not that glamorous but I wanted to be able to use this to remind my wonderful husband that I can cook--because for the next couple of weeks he will be on his own!

Clinsey Update!

Clint and I have been very busy this summer and also very blessed! Clint, being the amazing man he is, got an internship in Salt Lake City at Schneider International!!! I am so proud of him, he did great in the interview and has a wonderful resume, I know that he is going to do great at his internship this summer!!! Clint also did research for about 3 weeks on cars and got a great deal on a used car for us (so that we can both drive to our jobs this summer)!! As for me I have started cooking dinner again and started teaching at a summer school for special education! It has been a great experience for me so far and I know I am going to learn a lot. I am not sure if everyone knows but I am going to be teaching a class of students with Autism next year and I wanted to share this video I came across that I think can help anyone understand what a person with Autism feels and goes through. I hope you feel enlightened, I know I did! Have a great weekend.

Caribbean Cruise

While I could not understand much of what he said (with all the noise around me) my heart still melted. Britt's Wedding

Clint and I just took the quickest trip ever to California. It started with us Driving through the night on Thursday to arrive in California in time for breakfast with Grandma Sarah and to get freshened up for the wedding. It was a fun, long and a beautiful day! It was like a high school reunion for me. I got to see so many of my old friends and catch up, it was so much fun. It made me realize how many great friends I had in high school and no matter how many years we don't see each other when we do its like no time passed. We got to spend time helping our niece Sammie with her birthday party and it was awesome. We had a lot of fun hanging out with Spencer and Amy and our sweet nieces. We got to see grandparents and get spoiled by them. Lets not forget the great dinners we had with Grandma Sarah at two of my favorite places, In-N-Out and Rock-N-Jennys (best sandwiches ever!!!!) We got to see our siblings in Santa Monica and adorable Ella and Ethan. Sadly, I did not get any pictures with our family, we were having too much fun and I forgot. But here are some from the wedding. The whole trip ended with us driving back through the night on Sunday and starting a whole new week of work and school, just gotta plow through it all and hope to recoup over the weekend!

Celebrations=Tucanos

Clint and I had a great day today! We got our grades from Winter Semester today (never thought my grades would make a day great but life is full of surprises). We both were so happy that we ran to Tucanos between work and class (which was one hour) and we ate everything in thirty minutes to get me back in time for my class. It was pretty incredible, impressive and delicious! And in about twenty minutes we will be driving to California for Brittany's Wedding in the morning, I sure hope we make it in time:)

Clint's Birthday Weekend

Clint and I had a three day break between semesters of classes and for it we went up to Heber and celebrated Clint's birthday with my family. On Friday we saw the movie Source Code...crazy movie but good! On Saturday we went shopping at the outlets in Park City and went to his cousins baptism. Then we went to get some dinner with my parents and had great mexican food with even better carne asada!!! It was so moist and just melted in mouth. Clint would not stop talking about it for the next couple of hours. On Sunday we celebrated Easter and had Mom kick our trash in Yahtzee as she got not just 1 but 2 YAHTZEES!!!! Incredible! Such a fun weekend, I love having family close by!

7. His snoring...it sounds like a purr.
8. He still opens the car door for me.
9. His study habits (he is so hard core it makes me want to be better)
10. When I'm sick he will study in bed next to me because he knows I don't like to be alone.
11. When we play basketball he doesn't go easy on me just because I'm his wife or a girl or 5'2. And he kicks my trash every time.
12. He always loves what I cook and bake (even if I forget the baking soda)
13. He tells me he loves me everyday.
14. He twitches while he sleeps.
15. He started the Birthday Month tradition which is AWESOME!
16. He loves to teach me romanian, tennis and basketball.
17. I love when he makes up songs, they are always funny and so creative!
18. He will g-chat with me while he is in class.
19. When we have fights (I know and here you were thinking we were a perfect couple) he never yells at me and they usually end with us laughing at how ridiculous it is.
20. We always watch Modern Family together and laugh so hard!
21. He supports me in all of my decisions and continually reassures me that I will be a great teacher.
22. He is a great dancer! The best I have ever seen!
23. I love how he looks at me like I am the best thing that has ever happened to him.

General Conference

I have been so busy the past month with final papers and projects due and getting ready to for finals that I have a hard time keeping my blog updated. Here are a couple of pictures from our general conference weekend, which is always a lot of fun! I love hearing all the talks and seeing my in-laws and a lot of familiar faces at conference. It is always a great time to forget about homework and spend some time with my husband. I love being with him and acting like we don't have anything else on our mind! It was a fabulous weekend!

I Am Not My Body

Many of you know that I went to Romania for four months. While I was there I heard an amazing story! There was a boy named Marius whose house caught on fire. His parents died in the fire and he had burns over 75% of his body. He was in a coma for a couple of months following and during this time his older brother was rebuilding their house and working to get custody of Marius. Marius was in the hospital in Iasi where the BYU interns go to help children who do not have parents to help them. They met Marius there and instantly became close. They became so close that they worked for months to get funding to bring him to the U.S. to receive proper treatment for his burns and reconstruction (the fire took his nose and fingers and he could not close his eyes). They were able to get enough funding to bring Marius and his brother to the United States.

Anyway, long story short there is a documentary about his life and the blessings that he has received every since those BYU interns walked into his hospital bedroom. It is a beautiful story and I would urge everyone to look into it. Unfortunately, I got to see a premiere of it but it is not available yet to the rest of the public. Marius was at the premiere and I got to see some of his personality and he is an adorable kid, not to mention an optimist ever since the fire! When asked what he wants to do with his life he said "I want to be a motivational speaker!" It is just so inspiring and it brought back so many memories. After the movie and a Q&A session I got to see an old friend from Romania (they flew her out for the movie) and ask her how all of my kids are doing! They are all doing so well! One of the girls, Claudia, that I LOVED, is with a foster family and doing great. Another lil boy, Bobo, that Rhett and I worked with is still singing songs that we taught him while we were there and he is talking even more than before. It is such a blessing to have spent four months with those children. I loved them so much while I was there and still do! Before I went to Romania I was so excited to serve them and teach them but in the end those sweet faces and spirits taught me more than I could ever have taught them. They will forever hold a special place in my heart!

Festival of Colors

Ever since I have been in Provo I have wanted to go to the Festival of Colors at the Hare Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork. I have been to their services before for a class and I found their beliefs and interests intriguing. After being here for over five years I finally made it with my amazing husband to celebrate my birthday month (Clint and I decided we are going to celebrate birthday months in our family, not sure how long that will last once we have kids but it is great while its just the two of us)!!! We had to walk over a mile to get there and get back but it was worth it. It was insane, it was hard to breathe and there were colors everywhere! As fun as it was, it was a one time thing for me.

Date Night

It has been awhile since Clint and I have been on a date and spent an evening with just the two of us (and when I say a while I mean two weeks but come on thats a long time). Last night we got to make up for lost time and it was awesome! We went and played laser tag at the ghetto place in Provo that has been here since the beginning of time. It was so much fun, the adrenaline of hiding and not knowing when I would get hit. It was awesome! Plus I got a better score then Clint and since I rarely beat him at anything that was the icing on the cake:) Then we drove around for about thirty minutes trying to decide what we wanted to eat for dinner. We compromised on Jimmy John's with fries from Burger Supreme. Delicious, healthy and a balanced meal. Then we spent the evening cuddling and watching t.v. The night was homework free (which rarely happens, rarely!)

As we drove home with our delicious and healthy meal, I was thinking about our first dance together as husband and wife and how I could not imagine loving him more than I did in that moment. Last night as we spent the evening together I realized how much that love has grown. I did not know my heart could hold so much love for one person. I can't imagine that I could love him more than I do right now but I know that isn't true and that every day I do love him more than the day before. Being married and finding someone this special is a blessing. Thank you husband for an amazing date night, I love you!

My amazing sister and brother-in-law are moving to Rochester, NY for his medical Residency and I am just so excited for them that I started doing all kinds of research of things they can do there, where to shop, eat and how far they are from Niagara Falls and NYC! Then I came upon this picture (look below) and decided that all this research I was doing would not be in vain and Clint and I will just have to take a trip out there to to enjoy this beautiful city. Congrats again Ryan, Rachel, Liam and Gavin. You are going love it there!

BYU Business Program

I want to brag a little bit about my husband...he applied for the BYU business program, which is one of the hardest ones to get into, and he GOT IN!!! He is so smart and such a hard worker! I cannot even express how proud I am of him and all the work he did to get where he is. Clint, you are amazing and you deserve it for all those hours you spent studying and I spent watching you study. I love you so much! Congratulations!!!

Groundhog Day

I am a fan of Groundhog Day, I enjoy making a nice meal and watching the classic with Bill Murray in it. I am not a fan though of how often Lil' Phil's predictions are incorrect...or his prediction is often that it is going to be a long winter and that always makes me unhappy. This year I am very, very HAPPY to say that This Guy:

WAS RIGHT!!! Here in Provo we have experienced the earliest Spring I have ever been around for and I am super happy! It is sunny out, I don't have to wear a jacket to work in the morning and when I get home from class at night my face doesn't have to defrost. Spring is a beautiful thing!

New Addiction

So, I have a pretty sweet job that my boss allows me to do homework or watch t.v. on Hulu/Netflix if there is nothing to do and no phone calls. I have tried bringing homework but its hard for me to read when there are other distractions, people talking to me and interrupting my reading so of course, being the t.v. junkie I am, I started to watch stuff on netflix. But once I got through the two good movies/shows they actually have on instant play I started looking through all the rejects to see if there was anything else that might distract me until work is over. Then I found Grey's Anatomy. Don't judge me, at least not yet. I have known quite a few people who really love this show. And Dr. McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) is one of the main characters, how can I pass that up? And I have always enjoyed medical shows so.....I took a leap and started with the first season. And now I am hooked. I am hooked to a show that has no morals, love triangles, drinking and too much drama! But I am also hooked to a show that has intriguing medical cases, sweet relationships (I am mostly referring to the patients in this area)and life lessons to be learned. Now you can judge me all you want. Moral of the story stick with reruns of Psych.

Valentine's Day

So, I know its been over a week since Valentine's Day but being married to Clint every day is Valentine's Day for me:) However, on V-Day we did enjoy ourselves and went to a Japanese Steak restaurant. It was very squished at our table because the restaurant was trying to fit as many people as they could at every table. Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves very much and the food was incredible! I always enjoy watching the skills of the cook and catching the shrimp in my mouth (although I cheat and put by hands around my mouth because I don't want to miss and waste a good piece of shrimp). It was a lovely dinner that ended with a long night of studying when we got home. That's the life of a college student.

On this day though I know that it is not just about my significant other, I do love my husband very much, but it is also about our family. I am so grateful for my family and that includes my in-laws. I love them all so much and I am glad to have them in my life. Happy Late V-Day!

Tumbling Gym

This is one of Provo's Gems! THe Tumbling Gym!!! It was a great party that was filled with random friends, family, old buddies from freshman year. I have had many memories at this place with a lot of wonderful people. Now, I may not be the most gymnastic type of person but what could be more fun then running into people, big bags and falling into a foam pit!! Or even better being bounced around in a circle pad on a trampoline and trying to do flips or cool things that I really can't do! Great times...except for the soreness you feel the next day:)

Friday Night Adventures

This past Friday was one of the most memorable Clint and I have had together. We started the afternoon off with helping a friend move some stuff and the time started running out to when I needed to be at a visiting teaching appointment..so Clint dropped me off at the appointment and my companion agreed to take me home. Now remember this part of the story it will be important later: before he dropped me off I said to Clint, "Hey, don't lock the house because I don't have my keys." Visiting teaching goes well and I get home try the door, its locked, look under the mat for a key, no key, go into the laundry room because I am freezing and it turns out that room is not that warm either. I call my wonderful husband to discover that he was running late to work and forgot. No prob bob. What school are you working at tonight (Clint is a referee for high school basketball). He tells me he will be at Timpanogos High (I dont know why but in my head that translate into Timpview high). You may wonder what the difference is between the two, about fifteen minutes of driving.

So, I call literally all the friends I have in Provo to ask for a ride and I finally got a hold of one....Beatles Bryce and his wife gave me a lift to Timpview. They are so nice and good friends. They drop me off and I walk into the school to discover that Clint isn't there and I am at the wrong school....so wrong. Lucky me Rachel kept me company for quite awhile until Clint called to tell me what school he was at, which meant back to the grind to find a second friend to give me a ride to a different school. Lucky me I have some awesome friends. This time Kristen and her husband picked me up from Timpview. As I waited I talked to Rachel again and watched the high school drama going on. You would think this next step would be easy getting from one school to another. Well, when I talked to Clint to get directions to the new school our conversation got cut short because his phone was dying and I was nervous we would lose each other...Long ending short Kristen and her husband took me to TImpanogos and we ran into Clint at a stoplight..CHINESE FIRE DRILL! Thanks to my loving sister I was still in a good mood as I got in the car with my husband. I was ecstatic to see HIM!!!!

I hopped in the car with my hubby as he started to apologize profusely and as I started to complain about how I was starving and had a headache so he had to get grub in me soon! Being the sweetheart he is Clint pulled into the parking lot of Bombay House (MY FAVORITE INDIAN RESTAURANT)! This was a huge deal Clint doesn't like Indian food, he hates the smell even more and is always ragging on my love for it. I was shocked and so happy that my husband loved me so much and felt so bad about a small mistake that he would get Indian food with me. Sadly, there was too long of a wait for my liking so we grabbed some Gurus (2nd to Bombay). Anyway....long story short always have your keys on you...or text your husband while visiting teaching to remind him to leave a key:) Good Bye and Good Night!

Christmas Time is the Most Wonderful Time

Soooo....I know my blog is all over the place and its the middle of January and I am finally getting around to posting about Christmas! It was so much fun! WE spent half of it with my family in the beautiful town of Heber and the other half with Clints family in Sunny South Carolina (I do not have as many pictures from that trip because my in-laws took plenty to share). It was a great Holiday vacation for us! So great that we still have not adjusted back to the whole school and work thing that is so important.

Here we are, after an eventful week, at Christmas Morning! We all look so lovely:)

During the sledding extravaganza people stared in amazement that Parker and Ryan were wearing so little in cold weather. Christian was claiming to be a Christmas Banana and receiving cheers from strangers as he zoomed down the hill. And the rest of us are boring as we wore normal sledding clothes:) I love my family

At Hilton Head we spent some time at the light house and admired the view...it was beautiful! And we got to chill in awesome rocking chairs while others shopped and played at the playground.

One of the many highlights was family football on the beach! It was so much fun except for an incident here and there...family football is something that Clint's family loves to do and I love doing it with them.

This is my niece Ella...she is a curious and independent lil girl!

Here is Sammy claiming her spot! I swear every time I see this cute little girl she pats my belly and says when is the baby coming...and when I tell her there is no baby she goes on to lecture me that I need to have one because I am the only one without a baby....she even offered up herself to be my baby for the week so I could fit in. I took her up on the offer.

Here we are on our rad bike ride on the beach. It reminded me of the time my family and some of the Haynies came to South Carolina on a trip. I recall Liz and I saving the starfish that got left on shore when the tide would go down.

Our first anniversary was amazing! The week started looking grim because Clint got scheduled for work on our anniversary. He used this to his benefit to fool me into thinking he was working on our FIRST ANNIVERSARY! I was supportive on the outside, but on the inside I was very sad, about the whole situation. Friday night got to the point when he walked out the door in his uniform I was hoping it was all a joke or on Punk'd or something.....and then he was gone. As I was blogging and chilling in my pj's there was a knock at the door and there was my handsome husband with a dozen roses (each one had a note attached about something he loved about me) all dressed up and ready to sweep me off my feet. I was so shocked and excited and flustered because I had no time to do my hair or make-up before our reservation. First, I received these beautiful roses....

Then as I stepped into the car there was a gift certificate on my seat to get a manicure and a pedicure...

We made our way over to the Riverwoods where we got to walk around and see the romantic and beautiful lights.

Then we ate at a new restaurant called La Jolla Groves. It was incredible! My new favorite place to eat and such a fun atmosphere.

The restaurant has fake trees with lemons hanging down, its pretty rad. There theme is obviously the lemons so they have dishes based off of that. Pretty cute and the service was fantastic!

We finished up our meal and Clint had one more surprise in store. He took me to his old apartment complex and we got out of the car and stood at the spot where he decided that he only wanted to date me and no one else (but he was still not quite ready to be official). It was a good step though in the right direction. The ironic part is that was the same day that I decided he wasn't interested and I really should just leave the poor guy alone. Boy, was I wrong:)

Lastly, we enjoyed a lovely movie at our classy $1.25 theatre out here in good ol' P-Town! It was a perfect night all planned out by my amazing husband. I love him so much and could not have asked for a better Anniversary or a better husband.

Condaleezza Rice at BYU

Being a student at BYU I tend to be very comfortable and more conservative than I would be in a different state or school. I don't think its a bad thing but sometimes I feel pretty protected from the rest world. Today as I drove to work I saw the first protest EVER since I came to BYU! (This is the first one I have ever seen, I have heard of one other happenning when Dick Chenney came to speak at a graduation). Condaleezza Rice was speaking today so of course this called for a anti-war gathering on the street. It was very entertaining to watch while I was sitting at the light for what seemed like eternity. Then it proved frustrating as I tried to find a parking spot for work and it took me more than ten minutes to find someone to stalk to their car and wave as if to say "I swear I'm not creepy just late for work" (Thanks a lot Condoleezza).

Anyway, after these incidences I came to work and I heard some comments about the protesters needing to "get a life" and "dont they have anything better to do" (I hope none of my co-workers read this and if you do don't take it personally. I think that it is great that there are a handful of BYU students who want to freeze their buns off outside to express their freedom of speech and opinions. It is not something I would choose to do in the middle of the winter in Utah but GO THEM! I am just grateful that we live in a free country where if I ever desired to I could go join those protesters in the cold with my groovy PEACE sign!

Here at BYU we are lucky to be able to play sports and try to work our way to the top and win the championship! I know it may seem silly to a lot of you but most students at BYU make it a goal to win at least one Intramural Championship. Clint and a bunch of friends put together a flag football team and had a lot of fun! They played hard all semester and in the end they WON!!! It really was an underdog story..but they came back for the gold and got the awesome t-shirt! I am so proud of my husband and it was a lot of fun to sit on the sidelines with my friends and cheer them on!

The other night I was walking home from campus ahead of me was a gorgeous sunset that was bright pink contrasting with dark pink, and at the tip of the sunset was a lush orange that filled with sky (if the camera on my phone worked I would have documented it for everyone to oohh and awwww about, but alas it doesn't). As I looked behind me I gazed upon the majestic mountains with tips covered in snow that reflected the light of the sunset and above that a full moon that was taking position for the night. It was during this walk that I realized sometimes, I take Utah, and the natural beauty that surrounds me, for granted. I have so many blessings in my life and the breath taking beauty of nature is one of them. I have been especially blessed this week because I witnessed three of those amazing sunsets....before the snow came:)

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Taryn and I went party hopping for Halloween, I was a hippie and Taryn was a 90's Pop Star, we were feeling pretty good about our last minute costumes.

This was a get together for Kristin since she is getting married in a couple of weeks. We went out to dinner in Park City and then played in Midway. It was a great night with lots of memories! Oh, and restaurant recommendation Red Rock, it is in Park City and Salt Lake and DANG good!

Winter Slippers

Clint has some really awesome slippers that my Mama got for him last Christmas and I love them just as much as he does....In the last three weeks I think I have been wearing them more than he has. Last night we go to Target to shop like I love to do and he goes off on his own and we meet up again and while I am babbling about some clothes I was thinking about getting he has his hands behind his back and then WHAM! Slippers that are cute and comfortable like his but they are my size and not his!!! I am so excited and I love them so much that i have only taken them off to sleep. I just wanted to share this joyous moment with everyone, that is how excited I am. I have a great husband, surprises me in heber and now these....I am a pretty lucky gal:)

Pumpkins!

Clint and I had a very busy and eventful weekend! I went to babysit some kids up in Heber on Thursday and Clint stayed and worked in Provo but then surprised me on Saturday! It was the sweetest thing and made me so incredibly happy to see him on that doorstep. One of the best surprises ever (the second best was when he surprised me in Provo after I ran my first and last marathon, he was supposed to be in Salt Lake City but came back down to see me and congratulate me on finsihing!!) Anyway, little tangent, but we spent the evening with the kids carving pumpkins, eating dinner and chilling with my familia for a little bit.

Last night we went to Clint's Aun's house and had dinner and carved pumpkins again with them and had a splendid evening. It was so wonderful to spend some time together and with our loved ones. Here are some pictures of our awesome pumpkin carving skills! And I cant wait to dress up and celebrate Halloween this weekend!

I have not posted in awhile and thanks to Taryn's request I am finally getting around to it. I am not sure what to write about, that is why I have not posted in a while. I guess I could give a run down of our life. Clint is still working at a referee for BYU football and basketball intramurals. He is working just as hard as ever in school and will be applying for the business program and accounting program during winter semester. He is awesome, he always cleans the dishes and takes me out for fun dates on the one night a week we have together. I am really lucky to have a guy who as soon as he has a break calls me and tries to spend that time with me.

As for me, I have two jobs right now. Job #1 I am a research assistant in the Special Ed Program. This job does not require many hours, at least not enough to feed us for a week. So, that is why I got job #2 which is also a research job but this one has a real shift every week where I work nine hours a week and get paid $12 an hour! One of the best paying jobs I have ever had. And then I have one other job and that is picking up things here and there to make extra cash, mostly babysitting for a weekend while the parents go on a trip to SLC! Oh, and my school work is very time consuming but I am slowly getting closer to graduation and that makes me happy.

Our life is busy, but simple, chaotic, but lovely, all over the place, but our favorite place is home with each other. That is the life of the Ward Family. Pretty thrilling huh?

Old Memory

About three years ago my parents moved from California to a couple of other places. Well, while most of us were packing, crying or scrounging for something to eat at Aunt Deborah's house Matt, Marshal and Parker were playing throw the exercise ball in the dark moving van and when that got boring they moved on to using packing tape, water bottle and I think it was an old house to create this beauty (look below). I have a video of it which is very blurry. You will see it was hard for them to get under the water so if I recall correct they used weights to pull them down. Good memories!

Santa Clause

Warning: If you believe Santa Clause is real then you will want to read this post, if you do not believe he is real then when you read this you might change your mind.

I know this seems silly to write a post about Santa Clause when we are still in the Hot month of August but it just cannot wait. Clint and I are in Chicago visiting his parents and for a two days we went to the Wisconsin Dells to an awesome waterpark/hotel deal. Well, when we were driving home (Clint was asleep) so I was just chatting with his sister, Stefani, and his Mom when we pulled up behind a silver SUV with a sticker on the back that said "my other car is a sleigh." We have a little chuckle then we chuckle more as we see a sticker of an elf on his back window and notice his license plate says Santa C. At this point I am just thinking this person is a fan of the Big Guy in a red suit.

Well, as we pulled up next to this car their were no more chuckles just big gasps and smiles as we saw this Guy driving the car!!!!

And as we smiled, waved and giggled a little in the amazement of seeing THE Mr. Santa Clause himself we noticed his pretty lade sitting right next to him smiling back at us. Mr. C waved to us in his short sleeve RED long johns and gave us the smile with the rosy cheeks you read about in books. There you have it, Santa Clause is real and is vacationing in Wisconsin!

We got a little bit of Christmas Magic in August. Pretty cool, eh?!

A Mini Davis Reunion

What I consider our first was our Amazing trip to Havasupai.....and this one was just as good (except we missed Ryan and Marshal). We did a lot of boating, celebrated Rachel and Grandpa's birthday and mostly just enjoyed each others company. This has been a very eventful summer for Clint and I.

Clint and I hiked the Y together for the first time, and the first time for both of us in years. It was such a beautiful hike but coming down killed our knees....maybe that is why both of us have not hiked it in awhile.

Most people save their cake for the 1 year anniversary but Clint and I decided that we wanted to enjoy our cake before it got too stale and we did. We even shared some with our neighbors. It was a really fun night together celebrating the past wonderful 6 months. It has been a 6 months filled with adventure, love, laughter (a lot) and great memories. I am so grateful that Clint and I are married and that we always have fun together. Like a good friend of mine once said "If you are going to lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you are going to drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away" (Will Smith).

My first Ward/Oaks Family Reunion

This reunion first started in Park city where we spent time in an awesome condo, playing family football, swimming, getting back massages from my awesome nieces, eating delicious food, going to Olympic park and playing on the Alpine slides in Park city. This is just the beginning because after we droves to Joe's valley where we camped for a few days and it was so beautiful. I got two really great families, I have been very blessed.

After looking long and hard in our car under every seat, under all the blankets and things we still have in their from camping and in every pocket I go into the house to declare "Clint, our camera is officially LOST!" He replies all smug "Did you look under the passenger seat?" Psha I cannot believe after all the searching I did he would believe that I missed a spot....Come on, who does he think he is telling me where to look as he sat in the house and didnt worry about the camera at all (this is what I am thinking as I am walking back to the car and he sits in the kitchen) well, he was right and our Camera is officially back in good hands, my hands:) As I looked at the fifty or so pictures that I wanted to post I decided to put it up on my blog in different parts in order to hold everyone's attention instead of overload. So, this is PART 1 of our summer activities!

We have been very busy! We have had a great summer so far, and more to come, with trips, family in town, just practically living up in Heber with my family and camping. I would post pictures of all of these exciting events (because I am not much of a writer) but our camera is MIA right now....lets hope its found soon or else I will have to try and become a writer instead of a picture storyteller.

Summer Days

Clint and I have had a lot of fun these past weeks. Here are some pictures to prove it!

Memorial day with the fam! We played some football, went fishing ate delicious food and enjoyed dessert as the sunset went down over the mountains. It was very wonderful and serene.

Jazz and Laker game with our friends! It was fun to be in that atmosphere but sad to see the Jazz get killed. Eh well, there is always next year.

A couple of weeks ago Parker was playing in a tournament for school and they needed some more players, so they threw Clint right in there with the rest of 'em. It was fun watching them play together and seeing how Clint just fit right in with the team. Presh! Oh, and they won.

Best Friends wedding! So fun to go to one and see how happy they are. Weddings are a beautiful thing.

I love how relaxed summers are and all the fun we get to have with family. I am still hoping for the warm and sunny weather to hit us here in Utah.

What is Perfection

I think everyone has a different definition of perfection, what it is and how it is achieved. I read this story the other day and I love how the Father describes perfection. I know its a long story but it is worth the while:

At a Chush fund-raising dinner, the father of one student delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he cried out, "Where is the perfection in my son, Shay? Everything God does is done with perfection, but my child cannot understand things as other children do. My child cannot remember facts and figures as other children do. Where is God's perfection?"

The audience was shocked by the question, pained by the father's anguish and stilled by the piercing query. "I believe," the father answered, "that when God brings a child like this into the world, the perfection that he seeks is in the way people react to this child."

He then told the following story about his son Shay: One afternoon, Shay and his father walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, "Do you think they will let me play?"

Shay's father knew that his son was not at all athletic and that most boys would not want him on their team. But Shay's father understood that if his son was chosen to play it would give him a comfortable sense of belonging. Shay's father approached one of the boys in the field and asked if Shay could play.The boy looked around for guidance from his teammates. Getting none, he took matters into his own hands and said "We are losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him up to bat in the ninth inning."

Shay's father was ecstatic as Shay smiled broadly. Shay was told to put on a glove and go out to play short center field. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again and now with two outs and the bases loaded with the potential winning run on base. Shay was scheduled to be up. Would the team actually let Shay bat at this juncture and give away their chance to win the game?

Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that it was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, let alone hit with it. However as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher moved a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay should at least be able to make contact.

The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. One of Shay's team-mates came up to Shay and together they held the bat and faced the pitcher waiting for the next pitch. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly toward Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay and his teammate swung at the ball and together they hit a slow ground ball to the pitcher.

The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could easily have thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have ended the game. Instead, the pitcher took the ball and threw it on a high arc to right field, far beyond reach of the first baseman.

Everyone started yelling, "Shay, run to first. Run to first." Never in his life had Shay run to first. He scampered down the baseline wide-eyed and startled. By the time he reached first base, the right fielder had the ball. He could have thrown the ball to the second baseman who would tag out Shay, who was still running. But the right fielder understood what the pitcher's intentions were, so he threw the ball high and far over the third baseman's head.

Everyone yelled, "Run to second, run to second." Shay ran towards second base as the runners ahead of him deliriously circled the bases towards home.

As Shay reached second base, the opposing shortstop ran to him, turned him in the direction of third base and shouted, "Run to third." As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams ran behind him screaming, "Shay run home."

Shay ran home, stepped on home plate and all 18 boys lifted him on their shoulders and made him the hero, as he had just hit a "grand slam" and won the game for his team.

"That day," said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, "those 18 boys reached their level of God's perfection."

It's stories like these that make me want to be a Special Education teacher. I hope to see many moment like these throughout my career and life. May we all take a moment to help someone else:)

General Conference

I realized I have not mentioned anything about general conference when it was a really amazing conference a great time for families to get together. Clint and I were lucky to spend the weekend with his parents and grandparents. It is so fun to be with them whenever we have a chance. I have a lot of pictures from the past while to post so hopefully I will get to that soon.

As for conference I really enjoyed all of the talks. They all brought so much to think about, new guidance and light to bring into my life. One talk that I have been thinking about this morning was the one Elder Ballard gave one Women and their roles. I particularly liked the quote given by Joesph F. Smith “It is not for you to be led by the women of the world; it is for you to lead the . . . women of the world, in everything that is praise-worthy, everything that is God-like, everything that is uplifting and . . . purifying to the children of men”
I find this very inspiring for the women in our day. It is so often that I watch a t.v. show or look through magazines where this life in the business world and of luxury looks so appealing to me (I would never be able to attain this life style on my teaching salary anyway...but I wonder if my Mom did not teach me how important and wonderful the role of the mother is if I would have done things differently. I guess what I am saying is that I look forward to the day of being a Mom and teaching my family the important principles of the Gospel and the importance of being a Mother and Father some day.

I love that Ballard took the time to just address the ladies and remind us of pretty much how amazing and important we are. It is nice to hear that sometimes. I am grateful for the weekend of Conference that we have to hear from our Prophet, Apostles and other important Church Leaders. I am grateful for my life and for the Gospel that I have been taught in and someday I will teach my family as well.

"Sisters, we, your brethren, cannot do what you were divinely designated to do from before the foundation of the world. We may try, but we cannot ever hope to replicate your unique gifts. There is nothing in this world as personal, as nurturing, or as life changing as the influence of a righteous woman."

Bees

I truly learn something new everyday. Friday I was sitting outside of my office enjoying the beautiful sunshine when I felt a sharp sting on my elbow...and it didn't stop. I threw off my jacket thinking I had a spider or some other kind of gross bug biting my elbow. As I was hitting my elbow, freaking out and ready to strip down (whew glad I didn't have to go that far) to find whatever it was that was biting me my friend David saw a bee fall out of my jacket. I had no idea Bee Stings hurt that bad!

I got some ice and froze my elbow off until the pain started to subside. I took some Benadryl to help that night and the next day I woke up to a bright red and swollen elbow. I swear it looked like I had elephantiasis. Today, three days later, 10 Benadryl later, my arm is no longer swollen but is still bright, bright RED!!!

So, what did I learn. Bee stings hurt like nothing else, don't ever think about striping down when in a panic, and I am slightly allergic to bees! Crazy!

April Showers

April showers has a different meaning in Utah than other places (CALI) it is not a light rain with rainbows and that refreshing smell after....rather it is waking up in the morning to a fresh layer of snow on the ground and freezing wind as you walk to class. It is so cold (mind you we are in APRIL now) that I could see my breath as I walked to campus this morning. April showers I think not!

Tuesday was a very long day for me. I was walking on campus to class after working forever (it seemed like) and then I saw a student riding this on campus. It totally made my day! The revolution of Segway's has officially started:)

Clint and I went out to dinner last night to Rumbi Grill because we got a gift card there from two really awesome people!! We were both pretty excited to get out of the house together and try something new (neither of us have been there before). Then something amazing happened, it has never happened before.....The gift card machine wasn't working and the man said these magical words "we will just comp it." What?! Our faces were so stunned we probably looked like deer in headlights, or more like poor college students who were just blessed with free FOOD! We just asked, "really?" (still with our stunned faces) "uh, yeah, its not your fault the machine is broken." Our response should have been "in that case can we change what we ordered...."

The rest of the night Clint and I were walking on air.

Kinsey's turn for embarrassment

So... this definitely wont be a regular thing for me but I figure from time to time I can get back at kinsey and let the world hear about the embarrassing things she does..

Well this experience happened last thursday in our sociology class where kinsey came in the room and sat down next to me in the back row where I was saving her a seat. Then she proceeded to smooch me as if we were alone in the movie theater. To her dismay, she got caught by the teacher in the front of the class and called out for it. The teacher said "eh! you two in the back stop kissing. I know you two do it all the time but this time i'm gonna say something. I laughed and I was already slouched so hardly anyone could see me but the whole class of about 70-80 students were looking at kinsey's blushing face. I haven't seen kinsey so speechless. Of course she blamed me for the incident, which was expected. Lesson: I think she'll think twice before she jumps on me in class.

I just hope that I am not being fooled and after this sunny and warm week we get those six weeks of Winter...

My Life

My life has been so crazy lately...between Clint being sick and me being sick very little housework has gotten done. But the most important thing for me right now is my special education application which I have finally completed and will be turning in in one hour and I cannot wait for it to be out of my hands. I am already anticipating the answer. I wish I had more to post about but my life has been filled with school and work lately. But for your entertainment another story from Clint.

Clint: Have you ever been in jail?
Me: (mind you this was at like 4 in the morning) No, have you?
Clint: No, I had a dream you were in jail for 23 months.
Me: *gasp* 23 months, that is a long time (kinda messing with him cuz he was so out of it)
Clint: I know! (the sound of sweet snoring he had fallen back to sleep)

You think he would have asked me the jail question before we got married, what if I had said yes...deal breaker???

Clint dreamt that a piano was falling on us last night....as a result he grabbed me fast and hard to protect me from the falling piano. He woke up to tell me that he saved me and then to apologize for waking me up. I never knew this is what I was getting into:) So worth it!

I need to preface this post with the knowledge that Clint has been really sick the past week and constantly drugged with NyQuil or DayQuil. I have discovered that this has caused him to talk all night long (in his sleep given) but unlike Erin and my Sis I can never understand a word he says. He is just mumbling to himself. A couple times I tried talking to him and see if he was ok and all I get back is gibberish. The craziest thing happened two nights ago. I woke up because of Clint's snoring (which has started also since he has been sick) and decided to cuddle up next to him...as I put my arms around him he suddenly pushes me off of him and almost off the bed. "How Dare You try and cuddle with me while I slumber"...so he did not say that but he should have cuz that is how it felt.

Right after I was kind of scared and cuddled up by my lonesome on my side of the bed. To my surprise Clint woke up suddenly, looked at me "Are you ok?" He looked so worried and he knew he did something wrong. I looked at him just to ask what he was dreaming about. Apparently he was fighting someone and took it out on me. I guess we should cut back on our 24 watching. Either that or cut back on that NyQuil!

Honeymoon Pictures. After Clint was done with the stomach flu we had a great two days together and spent it eating at delicious places, skiing and walking around downtown Park City. It was such a wonderful time and I love making memories with my husband!

I am blessed with the most adorable nephew ever!

A very quick trip to my old home...ESCONDIDO!! We played some tennis at my old highschool before enjoying a beautiful day at the beach with our familia's!!

Just want to point out what an awesome sport Emily is....PLaying V-Ball and pregnant. She is my hero!

The Three beautiful ladies who made the open house happen and amazing! We had such a great time and I loved seeing everyone that I loved in Cali!

BYU Intramurals

It is the desire of almost every BYU student to win an Intramural shirt. It has been one of my desires and I am hoping this year will be my year...well, actually our year since Clint and I are playing Doubles Tennis! We are in the middle division which is good since neither of us have played in a couple of years. But things are looking up for us because we WON our first match....8-5!!!! Keep your fingers crossed for us, I know I am:)

Most of you probably did not think I would have been blogging on my honeymoon....neither did I:) But good news, Clint is 100% better, which is so nice because it was horrible seeing him so sick and weak. Even better news....I didn't get sick!!! MIracle, I think yes. We are back to the grind and going to school and work again. It has been a lot of fun I am just hoping we will have time this weekend to really get our apartment situated and organized. I will put up some pics from the honeymoon, no worries all

Here are some pictures from the wedding...just a few that my sister took and they are incredible! Some of you, or all of you, are probably wondering why I would waste time blogging on my honeymoon. Well, it is simple. Since early this morning (after spending the night doing our homework, cleaning off our car and eating at 1 am because we were starving, Clint has been very, very sick. At one point I found him in the fetal position groaning on the floor. So, here I am blogging as he sleeps and enjoying our amazing condo in Park City, alone:) Eh well, makes for a good story right:) I am officially Kinsey Lauren Ward, pretty awesome!

There are only three days left till my wedding. For those of you who do read my blog (all four of you)I am sorry to have left you hangin' with not much to read or many pictures to look at. For any who have planned a wedding, been in school full-time and working part-time you might understand my lack of blogging. This week I am just trying to get all my school work done, still trying to unpack and organize our lovely apartment, pack for honeymoon, visit some friends and last minute details for the wedding....but it will all work out. No matter how busy this week is and the stress that can come with it (did I mention it is suppose to snow this week) none of it matters to me.

I am just so excited to be marrying Clint and sealed to him for eternity. Since he got back to Utah after break we have had so much fun together and enjoyed getting stuff for our place and thinking about our future together. But mostly we just enjoy being together no matter what it is we are doing. I am marrying the right man for me and that is one of the greatest blessings I could ever ask for.

It is Christmas Break now so that means my blog will be lagging posts and then following that my wedding comes up quick....so don't expect too much out of me:) I hope everyone has a great Christmas, I know I will, it is my favorite season/holiday of the year. Clint and I had a very eventufl and just fun-filled weekend (which was so needed for the both of us). We got engagement photos taken on Saturday which is probably the coldest day of the winter so far....and it was windy....needless to say the faces we are making in a lot of our pictures are "I am so cold, why did we procrastinate for so long?" To which Clint would respond "I remember why we procrastinated so long...it is because Kinsey didn't like my haircut."

To warm our lil bodies up we went to Olive Garden and got the all you can eat soup and sald and filled our tummies over the top. SO delish! Then we went and speant the evening with Nat and Olivia:) Love them!

This was our first trip together and it was pretty much perfect!! I had a wonderful time with Clint (like I always do) and I loved getting to know all of his family and meeting new siblings and nieces. It was a great Thanksgiving and I decided what I am most thankful for are my family and the values they taught me and love that I feel from all of them....and I am grateful to be marrying into a family that is very similar to mine and that welcomed me with open arms without even knowing me. I am very blessed!

Ryan Kent McBeth, this post is to inform you that my Mom has awarded Clint 1 point. You may be saying things like "Holy COW" and "What the Devil" or "How did this happen?" Well, lets just say that tonight was the first time we saw Parker smile, like I am talking big, sparkle on his teeth, smile.......get this, while he was PLAYING BASKETBALL, like in a game and everything. It was a historic moment and it is all thanks to Clint. Parker made a shot and as he was running back down the court he looked up at Clint and smiled. Thats all. Better step up your game brotha!

Clint and I spent a weekend in Heber and got to enjoy a wonderful night of cowboy poetry and cowboy music. It was so entertaining and quite funny. I can't forget to mention the auction that my Dad participated in...famous last words "Michelle I promise I will stop at ______ dollars." Well, the joke is one him because the bidding stopped with him just $10 away from his stopping point. That my friends is why we don't gamble in the Davis family:)

I know I have been MIA lately on my Blog but I have good reason. I am in school full-time, working part-time, planning a wedding and trying to keep my sanity. Cause enough to not blog for a couple of weeks, I think so. Just a heads up that I really probably wont be around here for the next little while as I try to keep life under control and organized. I'm Engaged!!!!

I am sorry this has taken too long (Aunt Kristy) But I am finally putting it all up! General summary: I met Clint Sep '08 in Romania briefly in the city of Brasov. We met up again in July and went on our first date on the 8th and played tennis. Ever since he has been on my mind and I am lucky enough that I have been on his too:) We have been dating for almost 4 months and yesterday he asked me to marry him!

To preface the story he has been pulling my leg a lot and getting my hopes up that he might propose soon. Naturally, when he asked me to go on a picnic with him up in the canyon I told myself "Don't get your hopes up, he is just trying to throw you off." Originally he was trying to throw me off but then when he found out from his source I wasn't expecting it he changed his plans.

The picnic was perfect. He has Cafe Rio, Sparkling cider and a playlist of songs that are meaningful to both of us. We really enjoyed the picnic and just being together. After we finished eating we were lying on the the blanket just listening to music. Then he kissed me and as I pulled back and opened my eyes I saw that he was holding a ring in his hand. I was so happy and excited I just kissed him again before he could get the words out...but he did and asked me to marry him, which of course I said YES! I have never been so happy before in my life and cannot imagine spending eternity with anyone else. It is a great feeling when you just know that person is the one you want to share all your good and bad (future) experiences with.

If you want to know what was on his mind you can ask him at our wedding or give him a call at......you really think I would give you all his number...I know my family better than that. I love you all so much and Clint and hope you will all make it or try to make it to our wedding. It will be Jan 14 at the Salt Lake City Temple with our reception at Sundance. Enjoy the pics!!

Young and the Restless

Don't let the title fool you this is not about the sitcom (thank heavens) its about a movie I watched recently in class. It was about young adults in China and what it is they want from life and the goals they have. Then I had to interview 6 people (3 guys and 3 gals) and ask them what it is they want from life....I found it interesting that all six of them discussed how they want a family someday and how important it is to them.

Talking to them during these interviews it just made me so happy and grateful for the culture, and Religion, that I have been raised in. I love the importance expressed about families and the eternal perspective with it all. I love my family and I cannot imagine my life without them. It will be incredible when someday (not any day soon) I will be able to start my own family as well.

Taryn was one of the six and she said something that I took to heart "You see so many problems in this world and most of them start in the home." I could not have said it better myself.

What I learn in my Personal Finance Class....

My Personal Finance class is a little bit over an hour long...usually I take notes, look at other people's blogs, if the Professor is lucky I will make a comment or even just observe all the other students in lecture. Today was different. I was on a mission..duh duh duh....a mission to change the background of my blog! I was so excited, I found a really cute background that I loved and thought oh this will only take me away from lecture for about 5 mins to change. Well, lets just say 1 hour and a Computer Guru (Blake) later my background is VOILA!!! You better say you like it....please say you like it.

Sundance Ski Lift Ride

A couple of months ago Clint and I went on the ski lift ride that Sundance does whenever there is a full moon. It was really fun and really cold!!! Even though it was summertime the mountains still get pretty chilly at night. Nevertheless, I still loved it. Just a recommendation to anyone during the chilly summer nights, if you are looking for something to occupy your time, most definitely dress warm, take hot chocolate and enjoy yourself a romantic ski lift ride under the stars and full moon!

I am outraged at Subway!! I went in today to get my usual 6 inch Turkey Sub with all kinds of deliciousness on it and was on Cloud 9...that is until I got to the register and realized they are charging me over 7 BUCKS for a 6 inch with a drink! Ridiculous, I think YES! I remember the days I could get my sandwich, two cookies and a drink all for $5. What happened? Not only are their prices out of my poor college student budget but they gypped me on the veggies. 3 olives really? Since when did olives get expensive. Needless to say Subway has become one of those places on my list that I can only go to if it is for a special occasion, which lets face it, is pathetic and sad.

I FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!

After I crossed this glorious finish line I just started to cry....I could not believe that I made it!! THey gave us ice cream after, pretty stoked about that!

The drive home. The moon looked so majestic and I could not resist trying to capture the magic.

Favorite Moments From Marathon:

-Met A man who has run 247 marathons...why? I do not know.

-Saw a man pushing his friend in a wheelchair the whole way!

-Another guy I talked to has lost over 200 lbs. in order to make it to this Marathon (inspiring)

-Seeing my Mom at the end and that feeling of accomplishment.

-A 3 yr old trying to get in the hot tub, lifeguard comes up "Sorry, you are not old enough to be in the hot tub, you have to get out." Lil Kid (in that adorable lil kid voice and so serious) "My Mom won the Marathon, I am going to sit in here!!" Lifeguard (laughing) "Well, fair enough."

At all the water stations they had conference playing on loud speakers as we ran through...only in Utah:) But it was actually cool to have that. There is a special unity and bond between the runners and the volunteers. I cannot really explain it but this was a great experience for me to have....and I will never do it again haha! I know really inspiring.

St. George Marathon

“Winning is great, sure, but if you are really going to do something in life, the secret is learning how to lose. Nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat, and go on to win again, you are going to be a champion someday.”

Over the summer I got a crazy notion that I should run a marathon, a full 26.2 miles straight, particularly in the beautiful desert of St. George!!! At the time it seemed like a great idea, something fun to accomplish, a goal almost impossible but in my grasp.....well,l it was in my grasp. Just like anything else when I first started training I was so happy and going running everyday and on top of the ball (this is how most "new goals" in my life start out). I don't want to drag out my runners log and bore everyone so bottom line: School started, I started dating someone and I work all day, needless to say, my training declined, greatly....duh duh duh! About 2 1/2 weeks ago I got encouraged again and my excitement (or adrenaline) increased so it was time to jump on the ball again.

My training declined again but this time for another reason. Who knows what Iliotibial (IT) band syndrome is?? Pick me, Pick me!! Ok, so I actually had no idea what this meant when the Doctor told me. My face looked blank and vacant, like any college student, and very confused. He went on to show me a picture somewhat like this:
The gray part on the left is the IT Band. In lamest terms my knee is inflamed and every time I move my leg, even to walk, I feel a sharp pain go up from my knee to the top of my thigh. Pretty exciting stuff. You can see why my training was put on hold. I have been doing physical therapy and stretches to feel peace again with my knee. It works, until I run, so does that mean it doesn't work? Moral of the story: I am scared out of my mind to run 26.2 miles. I am not looking forward to the pain I will be feeling the whole run...and for days after. Does physical therapy really work?

Even though my time is going to be pretty horrendous I have decided to just be proud that I am doing it and "learn to lose" with grace and style of course!

Remember my list in the last post.....In case you don't or you are too lazy to scroll down and read it I mentioned how anything with Pumpkin in the name sounds so good right now.....Well, for my Mom's birthday we had Pumpkin Pie and guess what??!!! It was SO GOOD!!! My taste buds were satisfied!

Signs of Fall:

-That cold chill that nips at your face as you walk to school and walk home from school.
-Haunted Houses are officially open (My brothers, Micah, Clint and I made it a point to go opening weekend).
-All that is on my mind is "What should I be for Halloween"?
-Pumpkin pie, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin curry and pretty much anything with pumpkin in the title is starting to sound good.
-I am pulling my sleepers off the bench and back into the game.
-The colors are already starting to change at the top of the mountains.
-And I am starting to put on a couple of pounds to prepare me for the cold:)

I tend to complain about the cold at the beginning of the season but then I look at all the fun things that come along with it and I get pretty giddy and excited for a new season and new things to do and wear!

Here are some pictures from my weekend. Marian came out to visit which was so much fun! So we all went to my favorite Taco place in Provo....DIEGO'S!!!!

The boys and I proceeded to go to a Haunted Forest and Mansion. While there we met Captain Jack Sparrow and the Ghostbusters!!! Pretty epic night. I really enjoyed watching Parker get scared and take off his tough guy act for the night....I can't forget to mention Marshal scaring Jason (the guy with the chainsaw) and also making one of the actors (is that what you call haunted house employees) laugh out loud.....overall, a fulfilled and enjoyable weekend!

Last one for the list...You know fall is coming when there is a Football Game every Saturday!!!!! Even when you don't win, they are fun to be a part of and lose your voice screaming (whether from frustration of joy) and to be so close with all your closest friends that you can smell their BO (except for tarbear she doesn't even sweat).
